Terms of Service

The rules for using the HealthSync app.

Jump to section

These Terms are an agreement between you and the HealthSync Team, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) capstone team at National Teachers College ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the HealthSync app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What HealthSync is

Link to this section

HealthSync is a medication reminder and tracking app. A care partner sets up a patient's medicines and dose times. The patient gets reminders on their phone and confirms each dose. The care partner can see whether doses were taken, late, snoozed or missed and gets alerts. The app can also work with an optional HealthSync medicine box with lights (LEDs) that mark the compartment for a dose.

HealthSync is a student capstone project. We work to keep it reliable, but it may change, pause or be discontinued, and we will tell you in the app or by email when we can.

2. Not medical advice, and not for emergencies

Link to this section
  • HealthSync does not diagnose, treat or give medical advice. It does not check doses, drug interactions or allergies.
  • Always follow the instructions of the patient's doctor or pharmacist. If the app and a clinician disagree, follow the clinician.
  • HealthSync is not an emergency service. If someone may have taken the wrong medicine, too much or too little, or is unwell, contact a doctor, a poison control centre or local emergency services (911 in the Philippines).

3. Reminders can fail

Link to this section

Reminders and alerts depend on things we do not control, such as your phone's settings, battery saver, notification and alarm permissions, a switched-off or restarted device, the phone's clock and internet connection, and Google's and Cloudflare's services. A reminder or care partner alert may be late, missing or wrong. Do not rely on HealthSync as the only way to take or supervise medicine. Keep your own backup, such as a pill organiser, a written schedule or a person checking in.

4. The optional medicine box

Link to this section

The medicine box is an optional aid. A lit LED is a prompt, not confirmation that a compartment holds the right medicine or the right dose. It is not a medical device. The care partner is responsible for loading the correct medicine into the correct compartment and for checking it before each refill.

5. Who can use HealthSync

Link to this section
  • You must be 18 or older to create an account. HealthSync is intended for use in the Philippines.
  • There are two kinds of accounts. A care partner creates an account with an email and password. A managed patient account is created by a care partner and opened with a one-time code, and the patient confirms doses but cannot add or change medicines.
  • You may use HealthSync only for lawful purposes and only for yourself or for a person you are authorised to help care for.

6. If you are a care partner

Link to this section

By adding a patient, you confirm that:

  • you are authorised to enter that person's information, or you have their permission, or the permission of their legal representative;
  • the person knows their medicines and dose times are being recorded in HealthSync and that you will see their dose history and alerts;
  • the medicines, doses, times, stock counts and compartments you enter are accurate, and you will keep them up to date when the doctor changes the prescription;
  • you will share the one-time code only with that patient, and not post it publicly.

You are responsible for the information you enter and for how you use the patient's information.

7. Your account

Link to this section

Give accurate details, keep your password and codes private, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.

8. Acceptable use

Link to this section

Do not misuse the app. That includes trying to read or change another person's data, interfering with the service, reverse engineering it, entering false or harmful information, or using it for anything unlawful.

9. Your information

Link to this section

You keep ownership of the information you enter. You allow us to store and process it only to run HealthSync as described in the Privacy Policy. How we handle it is explained in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

10. Availability, updates and changes

Link to this section

HealthSync is provided "as is" and "as available". We may update, change or remove features, and the app may be unavailable for maintenance or because of problems with the services it depends on. If we make a material change to these Terms, we will tell you before it takes effect, where the law requires.

11. Limits on our responsibility

Link to this section

To the extent the law allows, the HealthSync Team, its members, National Teachers College and its staff are not liable for missed, late or wrongly timed doses, for decisions made using information in the app, or for losses caused by outages, device or settings problems, or incorrect information entered by users. Nothing in these Terms removes any right you have under Philippine consumer, data privacy or other laws that cannot be waived.

12. Ending your use and deleting your account

Link to this section

You can stop using HealthSync at any time. A care partner can delete their account in the app. A managed patient can request deletion in the app, and their care partner is asked to confirm it. You can also ask us by email, as explained in the Privacy Policy and on the account deletion page. We may suspend or end access if these Terms are broken or to protect someone's safety or data.

13. Governing law

Link to this section

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
